Derwenthorpe Wine Club

When the group meets ~ on a Monday evening at 7.30 pm, every four to six weeks, to suit the group.

Where the group meets ~ 7 Lotherington Avenue.

What the group is about ~ discovering the world of wine by tasting, enjoying and discussing it in a light hearted and friendly way.

Who is the group for ~ anyone who enjoys wine and wants to learn a little more, to widen their appreciation of it.  Definitely no previous knowledge required – just an interest!

How it works ~ bring along a bottle that fits in with the pre-chosen theme for each meeting (such as wines from a country or region, or maybe two different grape varieties), and a small savoury snack such as a piece of cheese or biscuits.  We usually taste a maximum of eight wines, 40 ml of each one, using tasting glasses which are provided.  As there can be as many as a dozen bottles, any unopened ones are saved; when there are eight, we run a blind tasting for fun.

New members welcome ~ we are currently fully subscribed, but as not all members come to every tasting there are often spare places.  So if you’re interested and happy to come along when there is space, please do contact us so we can keep you up to date with what is happening, and let you know if there is room on any tasting.

What else ~ we also explore local bars and restaurants for organised wine tastings.
